2016 Chevrolet Spark Review and Release Date - The 2016 Chevrolet Spark will get a simultaneous release in 2015 New York International Auto Show and the Seoul Motor Show 2015 on April 2. While this new model will be the fourth generation model of Chevrolet subcompact cars in Asia, it will be the second generation model for North American buyers.
Ranging in size from 1.0-1.5 liters, the new Ecotec family is GM's response to the efficiency-focused line as the Volkswagen EA211 engine, and a small EcoBoost engine Ford. A 1.0-liter turbocharged three-cylinder variants has been shown in the European minicar Adam Opel, while the 1.5-liter four-cylinder will act as a range extender in the 2016 Chevy Volt. The details will have to wait until the New York debut Spark, but the 1.0-liter engine will provide Chevy rivals Ford Fiesta 1.0-liter EcoBoost three."The new Spark Design has been developing and growing segment," said Michael Simcoe, GM vice president of international design. "The young imagination of the original Spark still in his genes, but delivered in a more traditional proportions which reinforces the smooth customer expectations."Powertrain details have not been announced, but the current generation Spark has a 1.2-liter four-cylinder with 84 hp. Transmission options include a five-speed manual or continuously variable transmission. Chevy Spark also offers all-electric EV. 2016 Spark will debut on April 2 in New York and Seoul auto show simultaneously, which represent the two largest markets models with South Korea being the largest followed by the United States.So, what is expected from 2016 Spark? A slimmer, more aerodynamic design for one, according to the maker. Michael Simcoe, GM International vice president of Design said, "The new Spark Design has evolved and grown with the segment. The young imagination of the original Spark still in his genes, but delivered in a more traditional proportions which reinforces the smooth customer expectations."While Spark is currently not yet a runaway hit in Canada, has done fairly well in other places, and is currently available in 71 global markets. So, it's really the world's car for General Motors.For now, the car is silent about the technical details for the 2016 Spark, but expect gasoline-powered and full-electric models that will be on offer when the model goes on sale later this year
